Global Sidebar – Overview & Functions

The Global Sidebar is a fixed, left-aligned navigation panel that remains visible across all screens and modules within the Fidelis platform. It's designed for quick, consistent access to the most important areas of the platform. This sidebar is themed in blue and is commonly referred to as the Global Sidebar due to its always-available, cross-module presence.


📌 Sidebar Icons & Functionalities (Top to Bottom)

Brand Icon

  • Takes the user back to the default home page or dashboard.

  • Displays the institution or community's branding.

Sherpa Dashboards (Staff Roles Only)

  • Shows all communities and training groups the staff user is part of.

  • Provides access to student lists, messaging, bulk actions, and academic data.

Learning Path (Staff Roles Only)

  • Allows staff to access assigned learning paths, view progress, and complete modules or activities.

  • Central to tracking academic journey.

  • For Student-only roles, the Brand icon acts as a Learning Path.

Notifications

  • Shows all platform notifications, including:

    • Tagging in private notes

    • Flags raised

    • Announcements and reminders

  • Clicking a notification opens relevant student or system pages.

  • Shows unread Notification count.

Messages

  • Central inbox for all received messages from students, staff, or community members.

  • Supports conversation threads and message history.

  • Shows unread Messages count.

SMS (If enabled for the community)

  • Allows staff users to send SMS messages to students.

  • Central inbox for all received SMS from students, staff, or community members.

  • Shows unread SMS count.

Activities

  • Shows a consolidated view of all activities performed by the user, including:

    • Session notes

    • Coaching actions

    • Flags and engagement metrics

  • Can be filtered by activity type in the student detail view.

Connections & Communities

Expands to show:

  • Favorites: Pinned users(can be anyone across communities) for quick access.

  • Mentor Dashboard (If Mentoring Enabled): For mentors to support their assigned mentees.

  • Mentee Dashboard (If Mentoring Enabled) : For mentees to engage with their mentors.

  • Community Dashboard: Lists all communities the user belongs to, along with community-specific features.

Switch (Staff Only)

  • Enables switching between Old & New Interfaces.

  • Helpful for managing different modules in Old & New UI without logging out.

Help

  • Lets users raise help tickets, access the knowledge base, and browse support articles.

  • Acts as a self-service and support gateway.

Profile

  • Access to:

    • My Profile: Personal details, avatar, etc.

    • Settings: Preferences, notifications, accessibility, password.

    • Logout: Securely sign out of the platform.
