📌 Purpose Widget Overview

The Purpose Widget is a powerful tool located on the right side of the Learning Path (My Goals) homepage. It empowers students to define, update, and communicate their career vision, educational goals, and professional aspirations.

This widget serves as the foundation for personalized recommendations, learning paths, and mentorship matching—making your Fidelis experience more tailored and meaningful.

🧭 Where to Find It

• Found on the right panel of your Learning Path homepage.

• Displays a summary of your current purpose.

• Click the ✏️ Edit icon or "Add/Edit Purpose" link to update or define your purpose.

Clicking edit will open the full Purpose Widget interface.

In the widget, you can:

• Write or update your free-text Purpose Statement, where you describe:

  • Your goals

  • Your academic focus

  • Your dream roles or outcomes

• Select from structured fields to guide your development:

  • 🎯 Function: (e.g., Clinical Psychologist, Data Analyst, Higher Education Administrator)

  • 🏢 Industry: (e.g., Education, Information Technology, Media & Entertainment)

🪄 Pro Tip: You can drag and reorder items in each field to set priorities—your top preferences appear first. 

Adding relevant information can help others find you more easily when searching for mentors or mentees, as these fields will also be used to match you with others in recommendations.

🔄 Purpose Activity Panel

Located on the right side of the widget, the Purpose Activity log helps you (and your coach) track your evolving aspirations:

• Displays a timeline of all updates made to your Purpose.

• Shows a side-by-side comparison between the new and previous statements.

• Allows coaches and students to:

  • Comment on updates

  • Attach relevant documents (e.g., resumes, plans, notes)

This makes the Purpose Widget a live, collaborative record of your personal and professional growth.

🚦 Purpose Status Indicators

At the top of the widget, you’ll find the status badge showing:

• ✅ Approved – Coach has endorsed your purpose.

• 🕐 Awaiting Coach Endorsement – Coach review is pending.

This feature adds credibility to your plan and gives coaches a chance to offer suggestions or validations.

• Simply click the “Close” button in the top-right to return to your Learning Path dashboard.
