Coaches are professionals, while mentors are volunteers. Both play a crucial role in helping students achieve their long-term goals, but they differ in their responsibilities and relationships with students.

Coaches:

  • Hired and typically paid by learning communities.

  • Act as guides for students within their organization.

  • Can be admissions officers, academic advisors, career counselors, HR representatives, or executive coaches within a school, company, or organization.

  • Have expertise in the institution’s resources and processes, helping students navigate and maximize their learning experience.

Mentors:

  • Volunteers who offer guidance, support, and inspiration.

  • Can be friends, colleagues, role models, or advisors.

  • Students connect with mentors through the Mentor/Mentee dashboards, sending requests to individuals who can help them succeed.

While coaches provide structured, professional guidance, mentors offer personalized, informal support based on shared experiences and relationships.
