Coaching Best Practices: Student Goals
Why Student Goals Matter
Setting and tracking student goals is key to monitoring progress, identifying challenges, and providing timely support. The LRM Reactive Tab is designed to alert Coaches when students are excelling or need intervention, ensuring that no student is overlooked.
Tracking Goal Progress in the LRM Reactive Tab
The Reactive Tab provides real-time insights into student goal performance, including:
๐ Goal % โ The percentage of goals completed.
๐ Goals Set โ The total number of goals assigned.
โ ๏ธ Goals Missed โ Goals that were not completed within the set timeframe.
Coaches can use this data to identify trends, monitor engagement, and take necessary action to support students in meeting their learning objectives.

Accessing Student Goal Details
Once a Coach spots a significant pattern in a student's goal-related data, they can:
1๏ธโฃ Navigate to the Student Detail View.
2๏ธโฃ Click on the Goals Tab to get a detailed breakdown of goals that are:
-
๐ Current โ Goals the student is actively working on.
-
๐ History โ Goals that have been completed, missed, or re-attempted.
-
๐ฎ Future โ Upcoming goals assigned to the student.
Additionally, Coaches should check the Activity Tab in the Student Detail View to see a timeline of goal-related updates, including:
๐ Goals Missed โ Understand when and why a goal wasnโt completed.
โ
Goals Passed โ Identify successfully completed goals and celebrate achievements.
๐ Goals Re-attempted โ Track whether students are making additional efforts to complete previous goals.
By reviewing both the Goals Tab and the Activity Tab, Coaches gain a holistic view of a studentโs progress, allowing for better-informed coaching actions.
Taking Coaching Action Based on Goal Data
Once youโve assessed a studentโs goal progress, consider the best coaching response to keep them motivated and on track:
๐ฌ Encouragement & Recognition โ If a student is excelling, acknowledge their progress! A simple message like "Great job on completing your recent learning apps! Keep up the great work!" can boost motivation.
๐ Intervention for Missed Goals โ If a student is falling behind, review the Activity Tab to see if theyโve attempted the goal before, then reach out to understand their challenges. Offer support, suggest alternative learning resources, or adjust goal timelines if necessary.
๐ Setting SMART Goals โ Ensure that studentsโ goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound to keep them engaged and set up for success.
๐ฏ Providing Additional Coaching Support โ Depending on the studentโs progress, Coaches can:
-
๐ Recommend relevant Learning Apps that align with their goals.
-
๐ Suggest earning specific Badges to showcase competency in key areas.
-
๐ Guide them toward external courses or certifications for further learning.
-
๐ค Offer mentoring support to help students navigate challenges and stay motivated.
