Admin Best Practices: Mentor/Mentee Limits
"Quality over Quantity"
Limiting the amount of Mentees a Mentor can be appropriate in situations where admin want to increase the quality of mentor-mentee interactions and personalize the mentoring experience. Having more mentees than a mentor can handle can easily spread them out to thin and diminish the quality of support they are providing.
To ensure your mentees can get the most value from their mentors, having 3-5 quality mentors who are closely aligned their objective can be much more powerful than 8 mentors who remain distant from their learning experience. Admins should carefully consider if limiting a mentee’s mentors would add or take away value of the mentorship experience.
