Admin Best Practices: Mentor/Mentee Learning Apps & Badges
In the configuration of your community, you can identify default starter Apps and/or Badges for all Mentors and Mentees that choose to participate in your Community Mentoring Program. This content will automatically appear on the learning path of each user in a mentor or mentee role. Adding required mentoring learning apps or badges can help ensure your mentors/mentees understand their role.
In these apps and badges you can outline key expectations related to the mentor-mentee relationship as well as any other program-related information specific to the mentoring experience. Admins also must remember that Mentors are “volunteers” who have a different time commitment than other users. Taking this into consideration when building out the mentoring content can help keep mentors engaged with their mentees throughout the student lifecycle.
While mentors can add value to any user experience, it is key for users to understand their role as mentees in that mentoring relationship. Creating content around the mentor-mentee relationship (i.e. learning to respect and make good use of a mentor’s time) are smart ways to prepare your users for a positive mentoring program experience.
